Location: Brisbane, QLD (travel to project sites and client meetings as required).
Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 + super, package based on experience, plus access to a KPI-linked incentive pool tied to new and repeat work you bring into the business.
The best engineers don’t just deliver projects. They help shape the future of the industry.
Marvel Engineers is a growing, digital-first transport infrastructure consultancy working across Queensland and NSW. We’re looking for a Principal Civil Engineer with a strong TMR background who wants more than just another senior role.
If you’re passionate about transport infrastructure, road safety and building genuine client relationships, this is an opportunity to help shape projects, mentor great people, and have a real say in where the business goes next.
Who we are
We do things a little differently at Marvel.
We’re a lean, modern consultancy that values good people, practical solutions and making work enjoyable. Our team combines technical excellence with digital innovation, using BIM, automation and smart delivery tools to work more efficiently and create better outcomes for our clients.
You’ll work directly with our Directors, have the freedom to contribute ideas, and be part of a business where decisions happen quickly and everyone’s voice matters.
The opportunity
This isn’t simply a larger version of your current role. You’ll lead the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects, develop trusted client relationships, and help guide the future growth of our Queensland business. You’ll also play an important role in identifying opportunities, winning work and expanding our transport and road safety offering.
Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to influence the direction of the business while doing the technical work you enjoy and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
What you’ll do
- Lead the delivery of civil design services across transport infrastructure and renewable energy projects, providing technical leadership on complex engineering challenges.
- Build and strengthen client relationships across TMR and local government projects.
- Play an active role in business development: identifying opportunities, contributing to bids and proposals, and converting relationships into long-term partnerships.
- Apply your road safety expertise to help improve project outcomes and grow our road safety capability.
- Champion digital delivery through BIM, ISO19650 information management and modern project workflows.
- Mentor and support engineers across all stages of their careers.
- Contribute to Marvel’s strategic direction and ongoing growth.
What you bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with RPEQ and CPEng registration.
- 15+ years’ experience delivering transport infrastructure projects, including a strong track record with TMR.
- Road Safety Auditor accreditation is highly regarded, but not essential.
- Established client relationships and an interest in helping grow a business, not just deliver projects.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience leading and mentoring a team.
Why Marvel
- Shape the future of the business. Be part of key decisions and help influence where we grow next.
- Work directly with decision makers. No layers of management, just open conversations and fast action.
- Be recognised for growth. Access a KPI-linked incentive pool tied to new and repeat work you help bring into the business.
- Enjoy modern ways of working. Digital tools and streamlined processes help you focus on engineering, not administration.
- Invest in your development. We support ongoing learning through CPD, training programs, industry events and clear career development pathways.
- Join a great team. Work alongside motivated, down-to-earth people who genuinely enjoy what they do.
- Genuine flexibility: Opportunity to work flexibly from a location that suits you and the business. Some Brisbane based office hours are expected.
